Wiltshire's population is generally healthier than the national average. However, there are some pockets of ill-health within the community area.

There has been a move within health and social care to concentrate more on promoting and maintaining good health and independence. This focus on prevention can be seen in such things as the increasing importance of intermediate care services and the drive to encourage healthier lifestyles.
